Listen and reply to emails while driving thanks to free iPhone app

We reported earlier about Sprint’s plans to preinstall an application into Android handsets, which prevents certain features of the handset from working. There is also a clever application which has just been updated which lets you listen and replay to emails while driving. Text’nDrive 2.2.2 is available for owners of iOS devices.

Released by Montreal based Text’nDrive, the application allows users to listen to emails and texts using intelligent, multilingual technology. It has just become the 13th most downloaded free app on the US App Store ahead of the likes of Facebook and Angry Birds.

Drivers can listen and respond to incoming messages while using any hands free device or speakerphone. It has been found in research that people are six times more likely to have an accident while texting. Recently the practice was banned in 30 states and the District of Columbia, and also in all Canadian provinces.

Text’n Drive 2.2.2 is available on the App Store free of charge. iOS 4.0 or later required.
