New 2012 Street Triple announced by Triumph

British motorcycle manufacturer Triumph has recently revealed the updated 2012 Street Triple. The new version has had some cosmetic changes but is mechanically identical to the older model. is reporting that the 2012 Street Triple now has new angled headlights and a smart new purple color. The new Street Triple will also have less chrome than its predecessor, and will be fitted with an updated instrument panel.

Besides the new purple color owners can also order it in black and metallic white, and the R version in red, white or black with gold wheels. Other than these cosmetic changes the rest of the bike is identical to the older version. It is powered by a 657cc Triple engine producing 105hp at the back wheel at 11,700rpm.

The suspension is provided by 41mm upside down forks, and at the rear you will find a monoshock from Kayaba. The R model also gets adjustable preload, rebound and compression damping. To stop the machine, twin Nissin 308mm floating discs with two-piston sliding calipers are provided. At the back is a 220mm single piston brake, while the R gets four-piston calipers on the front.

No official pricing has been announced for the US yet, but in the UK the 2012 is priced the same as 2011 model. This should mean that the Triumph Street Triple will set you back $8,899, and $9,599 for the R version. It is thought both machines should be available by the end of April 2011.
