Nokia Asha affordable feature phones take a bow

Earlier today we told you about the new smartphones that Nokia revealed running the Windows Phone 7.5 operating system. While the company has seen its smartphone sales slipping in recent times, sales of cheaper handsets remains strong in certain regions. Also today the Nokia Asha more affordable feature phones take a bow.

The company announced its new line of internet-enabled devices that will be aimed mainly at developing countries. According to PC Mag the new handsets will come with a special data compressing web browser, and can even download Angry Birds.

Nokia have said the devices will allow the company to bring data to people that have never had it before. The new devices will feature a cloud based browser that compresses data up to ninety percent. The Asha 303 features a QWERTY keyboard as well as a touch-screen that can be used in direct sunlight. Users can choose from a variety of colors and it has a 1GHz processor along with Wi-Fi and 3G.

The new Series 40 interface has Facebook and Twitter on the home screen, and will also come with Nokia maps and the ability to download applications. While the Asha 200 is another in the line of dual-SIM devices that Nokia offers. Along with the single SIM Asha 2001 it will have 32GB of memory for storing music, and will feature a loud speaker for playing it. These will also feature the WhatsApp instant messaging software.

When released later this year the Asha 300 will cost consumers 85 Euros, with the 303 at 115 Euros, and 200 at 60 Euros. The Nokia Asha 201 will be available early next year costing 60 Euros.
