SoundHound for iOS: Music Recognition App Gets an Update

If you own an Apple iOS device and you’ve previously downloaded the SoundHound app, we have news that could be of interest to you. The company has just released an update to its popular music recognition application, bringing with it a new recommendation feature.

As Danny Gallagher over on the website recently reported, the SoundHound music search and discovery app can not only identify specific songs, but it will now recommend similar songs based on the song, artist or band you are checking out.

The SoundHound 3.6.1 update also features the ability to view and edit your Facebook and Twitter feed when sharing your latest musical discoveries with your friends, family and followers. It also enables users to share their comments and recommendations via SMS or email, without retyping.

SoundHound has been described on the website as the fastest music recognition in the world, being able to name a tune in as little as 4 seconds. Another interesting point about this app is the fact that it’s the world’s only viable humming and singing recognition.

The application provides users with instant artist information and lyrics to the song they are listening to. SoundHound is compatible with the Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, but does require your device to be running iOS 3.0 or later.
